FAQ's
Q. How many clothes should I bring?
A. Read your letter of welcome carefully, talk to past citizens and then use your own judgement on clothes. Remember this week is not a camp, but an educational program. Wear comfortable shoes. You will be doing a lot of walking and heels are not advisable except for Inauguration Day when you may want to bring white heels. NO HALTER TOPS. SHORTS, TUMMY REVEALING TOPS OR JEANS DURING CLASSES OR ASSEMBLES. PLEASE
Q. How much money will I need?
A. Country stores will be open all week where you can purchase t-shirts, bottled water, pop and snacks. Also on Wednesday, the party parades are held and you may be asked to contribute a small amount for supplies. Party and community pictures are taken and may be purchased for $5 each. The university campus store will be open during the week for souvenirs and supplies. There will be a bank in lgnatius Hall where you can deposit and withdraw funds as you need them. lf you need items not available on campus, you can give your request to your Senior or Junior Counselor.
Q. What offices can I run for?

Q. Can I room with my classmate?
A. No. You will be assigned a room with a student from another school. This is a great way to meet new people. You will have ample time to see your friends during the week. You must be in your room/dormitory at the allotted time each evening and can not stay in another room other than the one you are assigned.
Q. Can I drive to Wheeling?
A. You may drive to Wheeling Jesuit University, but you must turn in your car keys to your Senior Counselor. No one is allowed to leave the campus. Your keys will be given back to you in order for you to pack your car for your departure.
Q. When is dismissal on Friday?
A. The final assembly will be held Friday morning after breakfast. ALL CITIZENS
MUST ATTEND THIS ASSEMBLY in order to receive their completioncertificates. This assembly will end around 10 AM. There is not sufficient room in the Troy Theatre for parents or visitors, so please have them wait for you at your dormitory until you are dismissed. lf your ride cannot come until later, please notify your Senior Counselor. A staff member will be on campus until all citizens are gone. The cafeteria is open for lunch, but Girls State will not provide lunch.
(lf you are interested in working for the Girls State newspaper, please tell your Senior Counselor as you register. Only 3 per community are chosen for the newspaper.)
